Summer Camp Faq's

How do i register?

what are the drop off and pick up times each week?
Drop off for each camp week is Sunday at 4:00pm and pick up for each camp week is Friday at 3:00.

what will my child need to bring to camp?
We will send out a list prior to the week your child/children are registered that will include all of the information you will need when preparing to send them to camp.

can my child bring an electronic device to camp?

Children are not allowed to have any electronic device besides a camera or a kindle whose only function is a book. If children are found with electronics they will be confiscated and given back to parents at pick-up.
 

what does a typical day at camp look like?

my child does not like to play outside, do they have to participate in activities?
All campers are required to participate in the activities unless otherwise stated by a medical condition. If the weather conditions are bad (rain, storms, excessive heat) our activities at that time will be indoors.

who are the counselors at piper hill farm?
The Farm at Piper Hill hires qualified, passionate educators and students to create a fantastic summer experience for all campers. We hire folks who love children, animals, nature, and fun! Your child’s counselors will be energetic, joyful, and knowledgeable. They will also be adept at communicating with you and your child with a genuine interest in how Piper Hill Farm can best support your child during the week. Our ratio is 1:7, meaning that there will be at least one adult for every seven campers on the property.  All staff are background screened.
 
my child is a picky eater, can i send them with snacks?
Of course! We ask that you do not send an excessive amount because we do provide meals and would prefer if your child ate with everyone else. Please do not send large amounts of sweets with your child, we do not want them to get sick. Upon check-in please bring the food you have brought to the kitchen, where it will be labeled and put away.
 
if my child forgot something can i come see them and drop it off?
It is acceptable that you drop off the missing item. However, we politely ask that you not see your child during this time.
can i call and talk to my child during the week to make sure they are alright?
If anything happens we will call you but we politely ask that you do not call us unless it is an emergency.
can i send letters in the mail to my child?
This is a wonderful thing to do. However, the letters will not arrive in time for your child to receive them during their stay. An alternative that we highly suggest is to write a letter for each day of the week (labeled with the day) and give the letters to the counselors upon check-in and we will distribute them throughout the week.

what if my child has specific needs, allergies or medical conditions?
The Farm at Piper Hill programs team strives to create an environment in which each and every camper can experience a fun and memorable time on our campus. We promise families that we will promote and maintain a safe, positive environment that encourages self-confidence and personal development while taking part in our camp programs.  With this philosophy in mind, if your child has a physical/medical/emotional condition that may require an accommodation in order for him or her to participate in camp and our programing  we ask that you contact our Events Coordinator Lynn: lynn@thefarmatpiperhill.com prior to your registration. This contact will allow for the opening of a dialogue to determine whether or not The Farm at Piper Hill program(s) will be appropriate for your child. We are a nut-free camp. Please fill out all of the relevant information on our medical form(s). Be sure to speak with your child’s counselors and feel free to contact our camp director if you have specific questions or information you would like us to know prior to your child attending camp. We work hard  to make The Farm at Piper Hill Summer Camp a wonderful and positive experience for each and every camper.

i gave my child some medicine, can they keep it in their bag?

No, children are not permitted to self-medicate. All medications should be given to the camp director at check-in. When your child needs it, either the camp director or medical counselor will distribute it properly to your child.


who is the Farm at piper hill camps for?
Our week long summer camp is for children ages 8-13 who love adventure, farm experiences, and making new friends! Our Kids Vet Club will give kids the opportunity to enhance their farm camp experience during the week with our trained vet techs and animal care specialists right at camp. This camp is a great way for animal lovers to learn more about animal health and serves as an excellent stepping stone to our more advanced Junior Vet Academy. 

what is the deposit required for each week of camp and when is the final balance due?

The rate is $1,395 per session with a 30% non-refundable deposit due upon registration. The balance is due by May 1st.  If you would like a flexible payment plan, please contact us! Our Kids Vet Club options are available bundled with camp for a total of $1,690 per session. 

is there a waiting list for camps that are full?

Yes! There is no cost to be added to the waiting list and you can add your child to as many weeks waiting lists as you’d like. As soon as a spot opens up, we will contact you and offer it to your child. We ask that you please respond within 24 hours.

what is your cancellation policy?

Exchanges for weeks/programs can be done as long as there is availability for the exchange in the newly requested week of camp/other program.  For summer camp, if the cancelation occurs more than 4 weeks prior to the start date we can offer a full refund minus the processing fee.  If the cancellation occurs between 2-4 weeks of the scheduled camp, account credit, refund equal to 50% of the total registration fees or the full amount paid, whichever is less will be offered.  If the cancellation occurs less than 2 weeks from the start date of the session or event no credit or refund will be offered.  Deposits are non refundable, we strongly recommend camp insurance which is provided by a third party provider.  After the camp season begins, there are no exchanges.  A full description of our cancellation policy can be found here.

what is your discipline policy?

We value kindness and cooperation between our campers while they are at camp. Because of this, we have an outlined Camper Behavior Contract that campers and parents must read and sign for each year. This details what we expect of our campers while at the farm and what our discipline/strike system is.
